Paper art and lights by Owen Gildersleeve
Owen Gildersleeve is an Artist specialising in Handcrafted Illustration, Set Design and Art Direction, Based in London. Owen Gildersleeve’s work often plays with light and shadow, combining hand-cut layers of paper with graphical forms and hand-rendered typography. His creations range from small-scale intricate paper illustrations to large-scale sets and installations. Owen often enjoys managing all aspects of the project, from the initial idea creation and design, to the papercutting, photography and final retouching. His larger-scale projects also see him collaborate with other creatives, including photographers, animators, stylists, and developers, to design dynamic installations and bring them into being. His playful handcrafted creations have won him numerous awards and have seen him produce work for an array of international clients including Google, LUSH, Vogue, Nissan and The New York Times. Owen’s work has also been exhibited across the world, including Los Angeles, New York, London, Tokyo and Bangkok.
Published in 2014, Owen’s first book Paper Cut celebrates the skilled creative practice of 25 leading papercraft artists from around the world. In June 2017 Owen’s second book My Amazing Body Machine was published by DK, a voyage into the human body created in collaboration with celebrated scientist Robert Winston.
