Damon Winter: can a photographer work with an iPhone?
Damon Winter is a New-York based staff photographer at the New-York Times, specializing in documentary, editorial and portrait. He did powerful shots in the US, in Haiti or Vietnam and very beautiful portraits of celebrities.
But recently Damon Winter thought his iPhone would be an efficient tool to capture the life of American soldiers while working in Afghanistan. “Composing with the iPhone is more casual and less deliberate,” Mr. Winter said. “And the soldiers often take photos of each other with their phones, so they were more comfortable than if I had my regular camera.” The shots were made with the famous Instamatic app, here is the gallery at NY Times.
