ai_latent_space a beautiful creative playground by Katrin Lange

Katrin Lange is an AI artist who already has some success on Instagram. She is a respected member of @ai.art.magazine. Her style is strong and well-developed, with interesting cultural references. I asked her a few questions to learn more about her artistic background and inspirations.

Can you introduce yourself ?

My name is Katrin Lange and I am known as @ai-latent-space on Instagram. I am a freelance art director and AI designer based near Cologne, Germany. I studied clothing technology, which is where my enthusiasm for fashion motifs comes from.
Professionally, I do advertising mainly for the (automotive-) industry and the technology sector. I am a member of the “AI Art Magazine” team.

How long have you been using generative AI?

I started working with image generators in 2023. Actually, I got into it through my work in advertising. At first I was very sceptical, but that quickly turned into complete addiction. Currently, I use AI mainly for artistic work.

What is your biggest source of inspiration currently?

My big topic is the ‘New Objectivity’ art movement that emerged in Germany around 1925. I have a weakness for minimalist motifs, but on the other hand I also love the opulent illustrators of the ‘Golden Age’

Which AI tools do you use the most?

I use Midjourney almost exclusively. When it comes to creative work, no other image generator comes close to this machine. It was trained with the intention of being a creative tool and and it definitely is. Midjourney is very sensitive and also a bit capricious, I really like that.

Any advice for those who want to get started with AI art?

“The most effective way to do it is to do it.” This quote from Amelia Earhart is my motto. Everyone can find his or her own way. Once the machine starts playing, you’re lost anyway. Just one thing: if you use Midjourney, always use it in raw mode.
